Warm winter greetings to all our clients and friends across Ballarat, the Central Highlands, the Surf Coast and farther afield.
The chilly weather has definitely kicked in around Ballarat, but the cold weather does not mean we all have to hibernate! There is plenty going on in Ballarat and surrounding areas for foodies, families, art lovers, music fans and anyone looking for an excuse to get out of the house.
The Ballarat Winter Festival
The Ballarat Winter Festival is back from 27 June to 19 July, bringing plenty of winter fun to the region. The Hot Choc Showdown is also returning, with more than 30 local venues serving up their own creations as locals and visitors sip, sample and vote their way through Ballarat’s sweetest winter event.
Speaking of something for everyone, that is the aim of the game when we attend to your tax returns at this time of year. At CGH Accounting Services, we know that no 2 clients are the same. Every tax return tells a different story, and our job is to understand your circumstances, provide practical advice and help you achieve the best possible outcome.
Some people count down to Christmas. Accountants tend to count down to 30 June.
Just like Christmas is most kids’ favourite time of the year, tax time is when our accountants are at their happiest. There is nothing they like more than getting stuck into the numbers, reviewing deductions, checking details and helping clients get organised for the year ahead.
A Little EOFY Humour
Q: What’s the difference between a good tax record and a great tax record?
A: About three hours of searching through kitchen drawers.
Q: What’s an accountant’s favourite exercise?
A: Running the numbers.
While we enjoy a bit of EOFY humour, tax season is serious business for our team. Whether your records arrive neatly organised, in a spreadsheet, or in a shoebox that has seen better days, we are here to help make the process as straightforward as possible and ensure you achieve the best outcome available under the rules.
You Don’t Have to Navigate These Challenges Alone. We Are Here To Help!
The past year has continued to present challenges and opportunities for individuals, families and businesses alike. Cost-of-living pressures remain a reality for many Australians, while changing economic conditions and ongoing ATO reporting requirements mean staying organised is more important than ever.
The good news is that you do not have to navigate these challenges alone.
Our team continues to stay up to date with taxation changes, business developments and compliance requirements so that we can provide timely and practical advice when you need it most.
Many clients first come to us for a tax return and later discover we can assist with much more.
Our team provides a broad range of accounting, taxation and advisory services across many professions and industries. Whether it is business advice, GST, investments, superannuation, bookkeeping or specialised tax matters, we are here to help.
If you have a question, ask us. That is what we are here for.
We look forward to engaging with our clients personally over the next few months as we work through your tax returns and, of course, any other related matters.
Best wishes from Chris, Jason and the CGH Team.
Preparing Your Tax Return
To enable us to prepare and complete your outstanding tax return(s), please provide the following, should it be relevant:
- PAYG Summary(s) / Income Statements
- Private Health Insurance Statement(s)
- Share and Crypto buy & sell details
- Dividend statements
- Details of investments or Capital Gains events
- Total ABN income and expenses for outstanding tax years
- Bank interest earned
- Motor Vehicle Schedule
- Rental Property Schedule
If you are unsure whether a document is relevant, please send it through or contact our office for guidance.
Of Special Note
If you are hoping to have your tax completed in July 2026, please be aware that it is up to you to ensure you provide us with the correct tax information.
The ATO does provide much of what we need, but due to employers not being required to lodge STP Payroll data until mid to late July 2026, accountants will not generally have access to finalised PAYG Summaries / Income Statements for 2026 until mid to late July 2026.
Once your PAYG Summary(s) / Income Statement(s) for 2026 are detailed as finalised or “Tax Ready” in your personal MyGov account, we will then also have access to that information through our ATO Portal.
Providing complete and accurate information helps avoid unnecessary amendments and ensures the smoothest possible lodgement process.
Please be sure to add www.cghaccounting.com.au to your Safe Senders or Whitelist in your email program so that you receive all correspondence from us without it going into your Junk or Spam folders.
